CPEC brings $25.4 billion of direct investment and over 236,000 jobs to Pakistan

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has attracted $25.4 billion in direct investment to Pakistan, creating 236,000 jobs, constructing 510 kilometers of highways, generating more than 8,000 megawatts of electricity, and developing 886 kilometers of core transmission lines.
These achievements were highlighted by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong during a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy on Friday. The event, attended by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, recognized the outstanding contributions of staff working on CPEC projects.

Ambassador Jiang described CPEC as a “game changer” for Pakistan, playing an irreplaceable role in advancing the country’s economic and social development while fostering regional integration. He emphasized the initiative’s significant impact on transforming Pakistan’s infrastructure and energy sectors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal underscored the importance of acknowledging the tireless efforts of employees who have been instrumental in the success of CPEC. He highlighted their contributions across infrastructure, energy, logistics, and technology, which have collectively shaped Pakistan’s future.
Ahsan Iqbal also emphasized the collaborative spirit that defines the partnership between Pakistan and China. “CPEC is a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations,” he stated, adding that it has strengthened economic collaboration, deepened people-to-people ties, and fortified strategic partnerships over the past decade.
