Elon Musk spends nearly $260 million to support Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has emerged as one of the largest financial supporters of Donald Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign, contributing over $259 million, according to recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.

Of this, $239 million was funneled into America PAC, a super PAC founded by Musk to drive voter turnout for Trump. Additionally, in late October, Musk donated $20 million to RBG PAC, a group aimed at persuading voters that Trump would not enact a national abortion ban. The PAC’s name references the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a prominent advocate for abortion rights.

Musk, 53, has not only provided financial support but has also become a key advisor in Trump’s transition team. The president-elect has appointed Musk, alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, to lead a task force focused on reducing government spending and regulations. The duo recently met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to rally support for significant spending cuts, which include firing federal employees, reducing regulations, and eliminating expired programs, such as veterans’ healthcare.

Musk’s role has extended to regular appearances at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where he has become a close confidant of the president-elect. His involvement marks a significant alignment with the Republican sphere, cementing his influence in shaping the policies of the incoming administration.
