Points table last updated: TBC vs TBC
The IPL 2025 Points Table will follow the standard ICC T20 system, where each team is awarded 2 points for a win during the group stages. In case of a tie or no result during the group stage, both teams will receive 1 point each. The table will display each team’s matches played (M), wins (W), losses (L), ties (T), no results (NR), points (P), and net run rate (NRR) after every match.
Points System:
- Win: 2 points
- No Result or Tied: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
In case teams are tied on points, the Net Run Rate (NRR) will be used to determine their rankings on the points table.
Tournament Format:
- The Indian Premier League (IPL) follows a structured T20 format designed for maximum excitement. Each of the 10 teams is divided into two virtual groups and plays 14 league matches: twice against teams in their group, once against four teams in the opposite group, and twice against the remaining team.
- The top four teams on the points table after the league stage qualify for the playoffs, which consist of two qualifiers, an eliminator, and the final. Qualifier 1 features the top two teams, with the winner advancing directly to the final. The loser gets another chance in Qualifier 2, facing the winner of the Eliminator (played between the 3rd and 4th place teams). The grand final determines the IPL champion.
Key Details:
- Matches Played (M): Total games played by a team
- Won (W): Games won by the team
- Lost (L): Games lost by the team
- Tied (T): Games ending in a tie (with no Super Over result)
- No Result (NR): Games abandoned or without a result
- Points (P): Total points earned by the team
- Run Rate (RR): Net Run Rate, a critical tie-breaker metric
