Legendary Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain passes away at 73
Zakir Hussain, the globally renowned Indian tabla virtuoso, passed away today in San Francisco at the age of 73 due to complications related to his heart. His manager, Nirmala Bachani, confirmed that the maestro had been hospitalized earlier for treatment.
Widely celebrated for his unparalleled mastery and innovative approach to the tabla, Zakir Hussain’s artistry earned him admiration across the globe.
