New ‘Gwadar International Airport’ to be operational by month-end

The New Gwadar International Airport is set to begin operations by the end of this month, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to boost trade and connectivity in the region.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced on Friday that preparations for the airport’s operation are in their final stages. Acting Director General of PAA, Zeeshan Saeed, and Deputy DG Airports Sadiq Rehman recently visited the facility to assess its readiness.

The $246 million airport, funded in part by a grant from China, is equipped with advanced facilities, a modern terminal building, and a large runway capable of accommodating all types of large aircraft. Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, it aims to position Gwadar as a key hub for commerce and international connectivity.

During the visit, Project Director Faizullah Khattak briefed officials on the operational readiness of the airport. The project team also highlighted potential business opportunities and economic zones associated with the airport, showcasing its role in regional economic development.

The New Gwadar International Airport is expected to significantly enhance trade, attract investment, and facilitate economic growth in the area. Acting DG Zeeshan Saeed expressed satisfaction with the progress of preparations, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project for regional and international trade.
