Pakistan boosts agricultural exports with record rice revenues and tractor trade

Pakistan’s agricultural export sector is gaining momentum, with significant achievements driven by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). In a notable development, Pakistan has entered the East African market by exporting tractors to Tanzania. The first consignment was successfully delivered in collaboration with Masai Trekta Company, a Kenya-Tanzania-based firm, signaling Pakistan’s growing global trade ambitions.

Highlighting another milestone, Pakistan’s rice exports reached an unprecedented $4 billion in revenue during the fiscal year 2024. This historic achievement underscores the effectiveness of SIFC’s efforts in promoting the agricultural sector and enhancing its export potential.

Building on this success, SIFC official Shahjehan Malik announced an ambitious target of $5 billion for rice exports in the next fiscal year. To meet this goal, he emphasized the importance of developing modern seeds and adopting standardized agricultural practices.

Pakistan’s globally renowned Basmati rice continues to play a pivotal role in these accomplishments. With over 6 million tons of various rice varieties exported last year, the country’s high-quality produce is further solidifying its position in the international market.
