The official emphasized that the initiative is part of Pakistan Railways’ broader focus on improving passenger services. The department is incorporating new technology to locally produce train coaches, reducing dependency on imports and enhancing service efficiency.
The upcoming express train aims to provide a comfortable and clean environment for travelers. Efforts are being made to improve food quality and cleanliness on board, ensuring a high standard of service. The train will feature various classes, including Air Conditioned (AC), AC parlour, and Economy Class, along with a modern dining car to cater to passenger needs.
The Green-Line Express, launched in 2015, currently serves as a benchmark for the new service. The Green-Line takes approximately 20 hours to travel from Islamabad to Karachi Cantonment Station, making key stops at Rawalpindi, Lahore, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sukkar/Rohri, Hyderabad, and Drigh Road. Known for its modern amenities, the Green-Line offers high-quality dining services and a variety of seating options.
