Pakistan’s mobile and broadband subscribers reach 193 million: PTA report
The number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan has surged to 193.2 million, marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecom sector, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). As of November 2024, Pakistan’s mobile teledensity stands at 79.10 percent, indicating the widespread use of mobile services across the country.
The report highlights a steady increase in mobile broadband users, with the number of subscribers reaching 139 million, resulting in a mobile broadband penetration rate of 56.90 percent. This growth reflects the growing reliance on mobile internet services for communication, business, education, and entertainment.

In the broader broadband category, Pakistan now has 143 million broadband subscribers, achieving a broadband penetration rate of 58.39 percent. The rise in broadband users highlights the ongoing shift towards digital connectivity, with more citizens relying on high-speed internet for daily activities.
However, fixed-line telephone connections remain minimal in comparison. The data shows that fixed telephone subscribers in the country total just 3 million, with a fixed teledensity of 1.10 percent. The low fixed-line usage underscores Pakistan’s preference for mobile communication over traditional landlines.
The telecom sector’s rapid expansion reflects the increasing digitalization of Pakistan’s economy. Experts attribute this growth to the widespread availability of affordable smartphones, competitive mobile packages, and the government’s push for digital inclusion.
