PTI seeks joint movement with JUI-F against the government

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Asad Qaiser has announced the party’s intent to collaborate with other political forces, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), to launch a joint movement against the Shehbaz Sharif-led government. Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Qaiser stated, “We are in contact with [JUI-F Emir] Maulana Fazlur Rehman. We want to launch a joint movement against the government.”

The PTI and the current government have been at loggerheads for months. PTI accuses the administration of stealing its mandate, while the government alleges PTI’s involvement in anti-state activities. Tensions escalated in late November when PTI held a protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, leading to law enforcement action and multiple cases filed against the party’s leadership.

Qaiser criticized the government for labeling political workers as terrorists while neglecting the genuine threat posed by militants. Highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation, he claimed that the government was targeting PTI instead of addressing the country’s security concerns.

Qaiser reiterated PTI’s commitment to pursuing its struggle within the framework of the constitution and the law. He also condemned the use of force against peaceful protesters, accusing the government of firing upon unarmed individuals. Additionally, he described the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment as unconstitutional and renewed PTI’s demand for the release of all “political prisoners.”

To honor those who lost their lives, Qaiser announced a ceremony to commemorate martyrs on December 15 at Bagh-e-Naran.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Adviser Barrister Muhammad Saif revealed that 99 first information reports (FIRs) have been registered against PTI founder Imran Khan in Punjab, along with 74 in Islamabad. Saif questioned how a jailed individual could commit such offenses, alleging the cases were politically motivated and aimed at undermining Khan’s influence.

He asserted that Khan remains a significant concern for the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), describing him as being “on their nerves.” Saif commended Khan for steadfastly facing these “fabricated cases” and expressed confidence that all baseless allegations would eventually be dismissed.
