PTI’s Asad Qaiser rejects claims of dialogue with government
Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has categorically denied reports of ongoing negotiations between his party and the government. Speaking on Friday, Qaiser clarified that no discussions have taken place despite media speculation suggesting otherwise.
Addressing the National Assembly, Qaiser stated, “I visited Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s residence for condolences. No talks regarding negotiations were held with the [NA] speaker.” He dismissed claims that conversations with Sadiq included discussions about easing political tensions, labeling such reports as “absolutely wrong.”

While acknowledging the formation of a committee to explore potential talks, Qaiser noted that the committee would only act when it deems the time appropriate and if the government demonstrates seriousness. Any future steps, he added, would be directed by PTI founder Imran Khan.
The PTI has made several demands, including the release of its leader and the repeal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which the party deems unconstitutional. Despite multiple street protests and marches to Islamabad this year, no resolution has been reached.
Qaiser strongly criticized the government’s handling of protests, particularly the events of November 26. “Why was live ammunition used during the protest? Under which law were unarmed citizens fired upon?” he questioned, demanding accountability and a thorough investigation into the incident.
He further alleged that martial law is effectively in place in Punjab, claiming that businesses and properties are unprotected under current circumstances. “In Punjab, martial law is practically in effect, and there is no security for people’s livelihoods,” he remarked.
The PTI has warned of escalating its agitation, announcing plans for a civil disobedience movement later this month if its demands are not met. Qaiser expressed solidarity with party members, saluting Punjab’s MNAs for standing firm “against state oppression.”
He also called on Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to fulfill his responsibility of protecting the members of the National Assembly, emphasizing that justice must prevail for the events of November 26.
