Punjab bans mobile phones in government schools

The Punjab government has issued a province-wide ban on mobile phone use in government schools as part of new measures aimed at improving discipline and transparency in the education system.
The School Education Department outlined a set of 20-point guidelines in a notification, directing District and Tehsil Education Officers and school heads to ensure strict compliance with the rules.

Under the new policy, teachers, students, and non-teaching staff are required to submit their mobile phones to the head teacher during school hours. Additional guidelines include mandatory dress codes, with staff required to wear dress coats and closed shoes, while both teachers and students must wear name badges.
Students are instructed to follow uniform regulations, including wearing navy blue jerseys. Furthermore, schools must display a timetable board at the main gate, designate class representatives for each class, and install three or four pennants featuring motivational slogans.
