Talks between Govt and PTI unlikely to succeed: Sheikh Rashid

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed skepticism on Monday over the potential success of negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Speaking outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, Rashid doubted that the talks would yield meaningful results, despite appreciating the PTI’s recent initiative to form a dialogue committee to engage with the government.
The former minister, known for his candid remarks, described the situation in his signature style, stating, “Holding negotiations is good, but there is only one grave, and two persons can’t be put into it.” He emphasized that if these talks fail, Pakistan may witness another wave of chaos and instability.

Reflecting on his earlier warnings, he noted, “I had already predicted that the political landscape would be marked by instability before December 30.” Sharing his observations from a recent trip, he added, “I just returned from Saudi Arabia, where every person I met is praying for Pakistan’s safety.”
Recalling his meeting with imprisoned PTI chairman Imran Khan, Rashid reiterated that Khan assured him of their unified stance in their ongoing political struggle. “Both of us are united,” Khan had told him, according to Rashid.
