Top 120 federal board students to receive ‘free electric bikes’
The federal government has announced that the top 120 students of the Federal Board will be awarded free electric bikes as part of its efforts to promote electric mobility and reward academic excellence. This initiative was unveiled during the fourth meeting on the Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy, chaired by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain.
Highlighting the decision, Minister Hussain emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability while motivating young achievers. He stated that this initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and transform Islamabad into a model city for clean energy.

In addition to rewarding top students, the government plans to roll out 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws on concessional loans to facilitate wider adoption of eco-friendly transportation.
The meeting also focused on bolstering EV infrastructure, including the development of 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways. Minister Hussain directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install EV charging stations at all petrol pumps in Islamabad to ensure seamless integration of electric vehicles into the city.
The minister stressed the importance of transparency in implementing the EV Policy, noting that all processes would be digitalized to achieve this goal. An official announcement of the comprehensive Electric Vehicles Policy is expected soon.
Full details on eligibility will be available once the new EV policy is announced in coming days. To ensure transparency and efficiency, the entire process of implementing the EV Policy will be fully digitalized.
