West Indies announce squad for Test series against Pakistan
The West Indies Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan, marking the team’s first Test tour of the country in 18 years. Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the Caribbean side as they aim to close out the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle with a strong performance.
Batter Amir Jangoo has secured his place in the squad following his remarkable performances in recent matches. The 27-year-old gained attention with an unbeaten 104 runs off 83 balls during his ODI debut against Bangladesh and consistent displays in regional cricket. Jangoo’s inclusion is seen as a promising boost for the West Indies’ batting lineup.

Spinner Gudakesh Motie makes his return to the squad after missing the recent Test series against Bangladesh, which ended in a draw. However, the team will be without pacer Shamar Joseph due to injury, while Alzarri Joseph was unavailable for selection.
Both Pakistan and West Indies are seeking to conclude their WTC 2023-2025 campaigns on a positive note. The West Indies currently sit at the bottom of the standings with 32 points and a points percentage of 24.24. The upcoming series offers the team an opportunity to improve their record in the ongoing cycle.
Andre Coley will continue to oversee the squad as head coach. Meanwhile, former captain Daren Sammy is set to take on the red-ball coaching portfolio starting in June, marking a shift in the team’s leadership structure.
The highly anticipated series is set to begin on January 16 at the National Stadium in Karachi. The second Test will take place on January 24 at the Multan Cricket Stadium. This series will be crucial for both teams as they aim to end their WTC campaigns on a high note.
